Meditating on Red, White and Blue
I am lighting three candles these days, and praying for our democracy.
Considering how hard a time I’m having reading anything — even headlines — about the election, the last thing we need from me is more words. So here instead are the three candles: red, white, and blue, that I am now devoting my attention to during meditation:
I have also taken to praying even harder than before — maybe harder than I have in years and years, asking the DIVINITY or whatever you believe GOD to be, to provide our nation safety, and a tight hold on democracy. Because we need it.
As Alyson Slutzky, the Democratic chair for the wee town of Egremont, MA, where I live — and a member of Hevreh of Southern Berkshire, the temple where my family has been members for more than four decades — reminds me daily: “Let’s stay full of hope! It’s not over until it’s over.”

Thank you for the reminder, Claudia. We do have to remain hopefully in this last stretch.
